Advocate

The IIDA Oregon Chapter Advocacy Committee is dedicated to enacting interior design legislation in the State of Oregon. Definition within the statute and legal recognition of the scope of Commercial Interior Design will advance the profession statewide.

The IIDA Oregon Chapter is committed to enacting meaningful legislation that will elevate the entire profession of commercial interior design in the state of Oregon. We are proud to be working alongside ASID Oregon in pursuit of this goal, as we transition out of operating through the dissolved coalition of IDC-Oregon.

Although IDC-Oregon made excellent progress with HB-2153 during the 2017 legislative session, feedback from legislators and our lobbyist indicates that a bill re-write is in order. We work diligently to educate our membership about the importance of legal recognition for the interior design profession through professional development and educational Forums. Look out for upcoming advocacy blog posts to stay up to date on what the Advocacy Team and Committee are up to!

In May of 2020, IIDA HQ published a video explaining the impacts of Interior Design on the public’s health, safety and welfare. Watch it here and share with your professional & social networks to help spread awareness:
